Walker, 201 South Drummond street, is busily engaged in salvaging lumber from the ruins of the Chicago and North Western railroad station at Chester or East Waupun as it has been known in recent years. The railroad obtained permission in December, 1943, to discontinue caretaker service at the station, and subsequently sold the station to Mr. Walker for the lumber he could salvage. He plans to build a shack on Lake Winneconne. Once a busy freight and passenger center, in recent years the depot had been used very little, no trains stopping at the station unless flagged. The station was built shortly after the railroad reached the vicinity in 1853.
