Good Morning, Mr. Tipton,
Just had to pull a gun safety story out of this Smith Corona to get a note off to you pronto to express my most sincere pride and gratitude that you thought of sending those wonderful pictures of The End of the Trail,
The color photo is outstanding and one that you should be extremely proud of for it really captures the mood. The packet of black and white prints helps us appreciate the location of the statue and the setting. Must be very beautiful!
Several things have happened here in my work to Promote the End of the Trail. During a vacation to the Black Hills, I came in contact with an artist who Is very Interested in making various statues for the buying public. We also have made contact with a jewelry firm to make charms of the End of the Trail and I should be hearing from them shortly. Every time
I think about what little effort has been done by our own Chamber on this statue I get so steamed that I can hardly see straight!
We are also working on a sign to put on the side of a building to help show the city visitors where it is located. Am in hopes the Kiwanis club will Pick up this idea.
Again my most deep thanks for thinking of me. They will be added to my display of End of the Trail. items.
Sincerely,
John 0. Kirkpatrick
P.S. Also found it interesting to know of your work with inmates as our town has Wisconsin's maximum security prison as well as a maximum security mental hospital...so we have other things in common besides our love of a statue and what it represents,

2nd P .S---Enclosed you find a picture that I took this past summer. Am sorry about the flaw in the negative which makes the side of the horse look white It is NOT on the statue...something happened in the developing. Also note the wires...our statues seem to have the same problem!
Thanks again so very much!Acquisition
