The students of Waupun High School purchase and wore these jackets as symbols of pride and accomplishments in the sport of their choice.
The jacket was also a symbol of belonging. The metals earned where placed on the letter and at times became very heavy, the more metals the accomplishments. The Jackets also had a emotional place in schools, as they were often given by male students to female students as a sign of belonging or going steady as it was called during this and earlier times.Acquisition
