THE STUDENT.
HISTORY OF THE GLEE CLUB
When we started in to school
In the year of nineteen five,
We formed a Waupun Glee Club,
And, my! how it did thrive.
Miss Peters was our teacher
And taught us for a while,
But soon she left our band.
Miss Chase came with a pile
Of songs, and books, and codas --
‘Twould make your blood run cold;
She gave us a good start
And soon we seemed quite bold.
We worked and worked and practiced
And practiced and worked again.
Our teacher helped us greatly,
And think not 'twas in vain;
For soon on one calm evening
When all the world was still,
We gave, Oh, such a concert
'Twould almost make a chill
O'er take you as you listened.
Th' year passed, as most years do
Without much recreation,
Until came June along
And brought us our vacation.
Next fall we came again
Each with the same old graces;
We missed some from our band,
But others took their places.
We' ve gone on busily
With hard work and with fun,
And - draw your own conclusions
