Gasohol Available At Waupun Carwash
Gasohol has come to Waupun. It's available from an unleaded gas pump at A&A Car Wash on the West end of Main Street in Waupun. "Gasohol" is the protected trademark for this high performance fuel for gasoline engines.
A mixture of 10 per cent alcohol and 90 per cent unleaded gasoline, gasohol can help us conserve our fossil fuels, if consumers will accept it. There is evidence that the consumer should at least try a few tankfuls, because tests have shown that it burns cleaner in the engine of your car and increases gas mileage.
Since the alcohol is manufactured from domestic agricultural sources, its use frees the United States, to some extent, from our dependence on foreign sources of petroleum and keeps the American dollar at home.
For the environmentalist, gasohol is an attractive alternative fuel, because it can be burned in their cars with only one-third of the pollutants that results from burning straight gas.
The most notable test of gasohol was done in Nebraska which confirmed that gasoline engines run smoother and cleaner with less carbon monoxide emissions when operated exclusively with gasohol. The incidence of gas line freeze was reduced also.
Catalytic converters are not harmed by gasohol. No special tuning of the car's engine is necessary.
The most significant fact to keep in mind is that once the petroleum is gone, it's gone forever. The source of alcohol however, can be grown on agrictultural land over and over again. It's a farm product and more sources can still be developed.
