Old Sudbury Road, by “Pine Hill Farm,” Bill Lovell’s farm.
61 Old Sudbury Road (Richard Lombard House). This was the third house on the site, and was built by Richard T. Lombard Esq. in 1887. This 1887 house was built by J. Keenan of Cambridge. Lombard enlisted in the 16th Massachusetts Infantry, was a lawyer, Town Clerk, florist and farmer. It was called “Sycamore Farm”.
William S. Lovell purchased it in 1904. He worked at his father’s store and also in insurance. Charles R. Harrington rented and farmed this land. In the 1910s Harry Carter lived and farmed here with his wife Clara and three children and later Hugh Kentley and his family lived here. During Lovell’s ownership Sycamore Farm became known as Pine Hill Farm. in 1945 the house was purchased by Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Stewart of Newtonville. Stewart sold the property to Richard and Elizabeth “Jo” Goeselt.
