The story goes that the postal carrier (Dave Leahman) noticed that Jim Garrison's mail was beginning to stack up, and he mentioned this to the neighbor Larry Edmonds. Mr. Edmonds called the police about not seeing Mr. Garrison and his mail piling up. Officer Abe Hughes was dispatched to the Garrison residence and looked in the window and found Mr. Garrison on the floor. All were recognized for their part in possibly saving the life of Mr. Garrison.
