Cannon belonged to Dr. John Converse who died in 1883. Mrs. Converse gave cannon to the village of Wayne June 4, 1889. Given to Henry Ford for Greenfield Village in January 1936.

Wayne residents used to steal the cannon and fire it on 4th of July. The village gave it to Greenfield Village to rid themselves of the problem.
