Context

This building was the Wayne County Road Commission Barn; the Road Patrol office was in the center of the building. Wayne County Sheriff Road Patrol was started in 1922 as the first Sheriff Road Patrol in the U.S. This photo shows Sheriff Bird in the center of the photo. The WCSD moved to Mich Ave and Henry Ruff in 1964. Wayne County Sheriff Road Patrol building, Mich Ave. south side just west of Howe Rd. Man with fedora is Sheriff Bird.
