Description

Signature or conversation quilt featuring several families from Wenham, MA as well as several other states, in the Snowflake/Old Italian pattern, made from multiple prints: red on white ground; blue on white ground; orange on white ground vermicular. Centers of crosses are plain muslin squares which have been signed in ink, some with captions or rhymed couplets, dates range from 1893 to 1904. Center square has an embroidered monogram, "B," and a spray of yellow flowers with green leaves and stems, with a circle around it in quilting stitches. Backing is pink with black and white, and pink, white and black stripes. Signatures appear as follows: C1, R1-7 (top to bottom): February 14th, 1902 Marion Abbott Gloucester Mass Annie L.
