Description

Kimball family register worked in silk thread on jute in black, green and white, backed in heavy natural linen, and bordered in a saw-tooth pattern in green satin stitch; the text, in black, reads: [This section also bordered in a vine motif with white flowers and leaves] "FAMILY RECORD / Mr Josiah Kimball was born in Wenham Mass / Sept. 25th. 1794. Miss Althea Dodge was born in Hamilton / Mass. Aug. 28th 1796. They were married Jan. 6th 1813. / Mr Kimball died Dec. 1st 1826./ Blest be the tie that binds, our hearts in nuptial love. / [The names of each of the descendants and their corresponding dates are inside rectangular cartouches, bordered by a green and white geometric pattern] George Washington Kimball / born June 21, 1813, died July 25 / 1821. / Fanny Woodbury Kimball / born Dec. 1st 1815. / Charlotte Augusta Kimball / born March 15th 1818. / Harriet Atwood Kimball / born July 23rd 1820. / George Washington Kimball / born Dec 10th 1823. / [On either side of George Washington Kimball's name] O let my feet / Ne'er run astray / Nor rove nor seek / The crooked way / I shall be safe / If Christ displays / Superiour [sic] pow'r / And guardian grace. / This was Recorded by Charlotte Augusta Kimball Wenham 1828."
