Bright blue silk Pin Badge commemorating the Civil War made up of a section of ribbon which is stitched to an ornate gilt pin. The pin forms a frame containing a laminated (?) strip of paper bearing the legend: "1861 - Civil War - 1865." The ribbon, which hangs straight down from the pin, is printed with gold ink. The words are as follows: "WENHAM Veterans' Association Organized May 30, 1876." The ribbon is edged with gold braid and finished with a bullion fringe. There is also a laminated badge which is stuck into the ribbon with two sharp metal points which have been peened over to hold it in place. The badge bears the Wenham town seal within a gilt rope edging. Given the 1876 date, this badge was possibly linked to the country's Centennial celebrations.
Virtually identical to 1987.27.001, but that example does not have the laminated badge fixed to it.
