A 7.5" x 5.125" rectangular, die-cut embossed valentine with pointed corners and scalloped edge. The background is embossed in pink, gold and white and has an oval in the center with a lithograph of a young girl in a red dress and hat and white apron putting a valentine into an old tree.
Attached to this background with paper tabs is a piece of pink, yellow and green floral paper with die-cut edges and cupids at the top, and attached to this piece of paper is a piece of gold and white paper lace. The paper and lace are cut out in the center to reveal the girl below. Applied to the paper lace is a sticker with the design of an open boon on which is printed, "My love for thee,.
Inside is a verse, surrounded by a sepia-colored design with flowers, a curtain and a girl:
Why do I love?
-----
Why do I love
so fondly dear?
Why ask of me a thing so vain?
Why smiles again the drooping Flow'r
Kissed by the summer Sun and pain?
Oh! Sun and Rain art though to me,
Whose Love and Hope are bound in thee.
