Description

Foot stove with coal cup inside. Stove is square, has a wooden frame with a turned wooden pillar on each corner. The pillars are held in place with wooden dowels. The top has 2 wooden slats inside the outer frame and wire bail. Inside the wooden frame is a tin box with holes in a random pattern on each side and the top. One side has a hinged door with a wire ring handle for closure. The seams of the tin are soldered. Inside is a square tin cup (4.5" x 4.5") to hold coals. the cup is open at the top and has a small (1.375" x 1.125") rectangular handle. Inside are two cards, which read: 1) "Stove the property of Mr. Stephen Dodge, Wenham Neck. Presented to the Wenham Society by his granddaughter, Mrs. Mary E. Conant-Elliott. Wenham October 24, 1933" and 2) Foot Stove. The property of Master Stephen Dodge of Wenham Neck. Presented to the Wenham Historical Society by his grand-daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Conant-Elliott."
