Notes

According to 1881 Book "History of Iowa County, Wisconsin: containing an account of its settlement, growth, development and resources; an extensive and minute sketch of its cities, towns and villages--their improvements, industries, manufactories, churches, schools and societies; its war record, biographical sketches, portraits of prominent men and early settlers; the whole preceded by a history of Wisconsin, statistics of the state, and an abstract of its laws and constitution and of the constitution of the United States." Cora didn't have a brother named Harold and it seems that the family lived in Wisconsin. But given that her mother was only 35 in 1881, it is possible they had more children: "JOSEPH V. ROGERS, grocer, Dodgeville; was born on the 5th of May, 1840, while his parents, John and Susan Rogers, were crossing the Atlantic, from England to America, in the ship Mary Ann Jane, Joseph Verney, master ; he was christened Joseph Verney, in compliment to the Captain ; after the settlement of the family in Dodgeville (see sketch of John Rogers), he attended the early schools, and, in June, 1860, began his present business; Mr. R, has never sold out or formed a partnership, and his twenty years of steady business as a grocer has been equaled by no man in the place. He married, in Dodgeville, Miss Agnes Alderson, born near Shullsburg, Wis.; they have four children—Verney J., J. Elmer, Cora May and Bert, all born in Dodgeville. Mr. Rogers is an attendant of the P. M. Church, and has been a Village Trustee." Cora did have a son, Harold, born 1903. Possibly an image of him?
