Carte-de-visite, showing a man in a suit with medium colored hair, brushed back on the sides. He has a goatee, possibly a mustache. He has an oversized bowtie, angled down, almost like a cravat. The photographer signed the back "Martin Artist Shullsburg" (Shullsburg, WI." In pen is written "James Alderson / Mother's only brother." Erase wording underneath reads "Grandfather Alderson / ____ in San Diego, Cal."
