Photograph, black and white, showing a young woman (presumably Margaret Sinclair Larson) in a white dress with a large dark bow on her collar on her chest, seated in a small boat, smiling. Her hair is pulled up under a dark wrap, and is wearing a wristwatch. She is smiling at the camera. The boat is on the water. There is a handwritten note taped to the back that reads "My mother, the Sandwich Maker - She and Dad met on the tennis courts in Jackson Park, Chicago, in about 1916 when she was still in high school. He always said he played her a 'love match' and she thought he meant it!"Photograph Details

Presumably the note was written by Margaret Larson Slote, the only child of Margaret Sinclair Larson and Walter E. Larson (information came from Stole's obituary; she died May 27, 2019). In the article printed from the Moving Mail and Express by Rail publication, Stole explains that her mother made her father 2-4 sandwiches for each shift he worked. The note was left on the photograph; possibly should be removed for archival purposes.
