This wooden fishing trap was used to catch different fish species along the Hatchie River. It was handcrafted from wood, submerged in the water and left for a period of time to catch fish. Fish would be drawn to bait that was placed inside the trap by the fisherman prior to it being submerged into water. The funnel constructed at the front was meant for fish to swim into the trap, but not be able to escape from it.Location
