Description

50th Anniversary Tour 2008-2009 Silver/gray chainmaille long dress with wired shoulder epilates and beaded cuffs and Long blond wig/headdress (Mad Max). Designed by Bob Mackie. This is a one-of-a-kind performance outfit that emulates Tina Turner’s infamous cinematic costume from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome released in 1985. It is not the original movie costume; however, this particular outfit was used during her stage performances. Tina also wore a similar outfit in the “We Don’t Need Another Hero” music video. This song, which appears in Beyond Thunderdome, became one of Tina Turner's biggest hit singles worldwide. The single peaked at number two on the United States Billboard Hot 100 in 1985. The costume represents Tina as an Amazonian-like figure during the post-apocalypse. The blonde wig is over 3 feet long and her costume and wrist cuffs are made from a shimmering chainmail. In the film, “the Queen of Rock” plays Aunty Entity, the equally glamorous and ruthless ruler of Bartertown.
