Tin container with threaded lid, fully corroded with lid attached. This flask is filled with a granular substance which may be carbide crystals, but has not yet been investigated.

Use

These flasks carried calcium carbide granules for fueling the carbide/acetylene flame headlamps used for illumination in underground coal mines.
