Arnold Ray Miller (April 25, 1923 – July 12, 1985) was a miner and activist who served as president of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) from 1972 to 1979. Miller was active in the movement to secure benefits for coal miners suffering from black lung (pneumoconiosis), and became the Miners For Democracy candidate opposing the sitting, autocratic UMWA president Tony Boyle in 1972. Miller was the first native West Virginian to lead the union.
