What Happens On Feb. 1st? sticker

Entry/Object ID

MW.0067

Description

Die-cut vinyl sticker advertising the threat of nationwide strike against the Peabody Coal Company by the United Mine Workers. Illustration of a coal miner, bisected vertically: his right side is dressed in work clothes, including a helmet with electric light, and he holds a lunch pail or tool box. His right side is dressed in camoflauge jacket and pants, and he holds up a protest sign.

Context

Although this sticker does not directly reference the strike, the UMWA began wearing camoflauge clothing on picket lines some time in the 1980s as a uniform of solidarity, and the picket sign is another clear indicator of the strike threat.
