Crooked Creek: 46LG219, Archaeological SiteEntry/Object ID
CC3.46LG219.06Description
Only two items, #3 and #6, are in this collection from a total of ten (10) found.
This area is on a ridgeline above another position (CC2) and is assumed to have been a long-range sniper position defending the large defensive position held below.Context
"This site is situated about 590 meters west of Crooked Creek Gap on a fairly flat ridge top. It is along a westward-trending ridge overlooking the northernmost tributary of Crooked Creek. It lies about 100 meters west (away from Crooked Creek Gap) of 46LG208. Nine of ten shell casings found in this 40-meter long site are of one shell type -- all were fired from a .30-30, possibly from the same weapon."
