Description

Tin can with wire handle for transportation of black powder/gunpowder.

Context

Gunpowder consists of a mixture of sulfur, carbon (in the form of charcoal), and potassium nitrate (saltpeter). After boring a hole in a rock face in an underground mine, the hole would be filled with black powder and exploded. Once blown, the coal and rock can be further separated before being loaded on a cart for transport to the surface for processing.
