Entry/Object ID

Description

One dozen various carbide chambers/bases for miner's headlamps, multiple manufacturers not listed.

Use

Each of these are the bottom portion of an individual acetylene headlamp, a threaded canister which held carbide granules. Water was dripped through a stem from the top of the lamp down onto the granules in this chamber, which created acetylene gas. The gas is fed through a pipe to a burner tip where it is ignited, producing a bright and steady flame.
