Mary and Bernie Pickett inside Pickett's cafeteria.
From donor Eric Barker:
"The Picketts, Mary and Bernard, behind the counter at the cafeteria circa 1962. The counter was removed a couple of years later when they remodeled, installing a steam table and adding a second dining room. It looks as though Grandpa cut the middle finger on his left hand. This could've been anything from trimming a side of prime rib for cooking to any number of fix-it projects he had going at any one time. Note cigars for sale behind them, and Lawry's seasoned salt with the salt and pepper shakers. Mary Pickett (née Gibbs) was born in Knoxville, TN in 1907. Bernard Pickett was born in Indianapolis, IN the following year. They married in Knoxville in 1926; moved to Noblesville in the 1930s. Bernard opened a chicken hatchery in 1938, which he operated until 1954. They moved to Westfield in 1958 and opened Pickett’s Cafeteria, building it into a successful business, which they owned for (I believe) fifteen years before selling it and retiring to Venice, FL."Acquisition
