Coville Part 2: Chromosomes in Vaccinium by A.E. Longley In Part 1, Dr. Coville discusses his experimentation, observation and puzzlement regarding hybridization results between various plants. He sought answers to why pairing unlikely plant partners often resulted in good results while similar pairings sometimes produced sterile offspring. He felt that chromosomes were an important factor and enlisted the aid of cytologist A.E. Longley. In part 2, Dr. Longley presents his discoveries with respect to blueberries with 12, 24, or 36 chromosomes.
