Description

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Division of Parks and Forestry Equipment inventory sheet from 1979, for "House (#37)". The #37 is covered by white-out but the ink can still be seen through it. This house is the Cranberry Research Substation run by Dr. Charles S. Beckwith, built in 1918 as one of the first Rutgers Research Substations in New Jersey where insets and injured cranberries were studied. Today, the house is used for educational events and the history of ecology on the site. This is a Sears Catalog House; the kit was brought by train and assembled on site. The stite stopped being the Research Substation for Rutgers after 1927. The building became used as a house afterwards. Today it is used for events and Pinelands Institute educational programs. Back of Polaroid photo has a serial number, only original number being "7".
