Description

This is Fenwick's first letter to his cousin Andrew after the passing of Benjamin Jones. Andrew Jones is the executor of this father's estate to which Fenwick owes a fair amount of money. Fenwick is requesting that Andrew give him more time, but understands if more time is not possible. Fenwick also expresses concern over his abilities as a farmer and land owner, and worries he may have to sell the farm, and "go west or somewhere." Handwritten at the end of the letter, "James Fenwick's uncle and guardian has died and James writes to son and executor." It is important to note that Andrew Jones is twenty years older than James Fenwick. There is also a very dark copy of a handwritten note indicating the dollar amount given to Fenwick and his sisters. It is unknown who wrote it or when.
