Description

Elizabeth White writes to Wheeler that she has sold 30,000 to 40,000 blueberry bushes this spring (1943). She can supply "Clark" and "Griscom" holly. Has no "St. Marys" to sell. She took large shoots the Nov. before for cuttings. She won't have any for at least 2 years. Is interested in his methods with holly cutting and will consider it for next winter if she has enough labor. Asks how the NJ hollies he was sent last spring are doing. Glad he liked NYT magazine article. Wheeler asks her to ship plants ASAP to a Chester N. Greenaugh in Belmont, MA, if she hasn't already shipped them to him (Wheeler).

Elizabeth replies to Wheeler's suggestion of a local (MA) grower as a source for blueberry plants that MA is too far away.

Note

Wilfrid is misspelled as "Wilfred" on this typewritten copy of the original letter. This was brought to the archives' attention by Wheeler's great-granddaughter Emily Wheeler. Original letters were then found after the copy was accessioned.
