Letters Between Elizabeth White and Wilfrid Wheeler
Entry/Object ID
1984.3.24
Description
Letter from Wilfrid Wheeler to Elizabeth White describes coldest and snowiest December ever on Cape Cod. Cannot get into the woods to get them because of the snow.
Talks about rooting cuttings with heat and hormones. Wheeler is upset about a holly section of which the owner plans to clear a part of the pasture. Will take out some of the largest and best trees. He can't move them because he has no labor. Hopes that Elizabeth can sell her young hollies for Christmas, perhaps in NY. Wheeler plans to spend a month of the winter with his wife in Milton, MA.

Wilfrid is misspelled as "Wilfred" on this typewritten copy of the original letter. This was brought to the archives' attention by Wheeler's great-granddaughter Emily Wheeler. Original letters were then found after the copy was accessioned.
