Description

Elizabeth sends Wheeler a copy of the article on holly planned for Whitesbog's new nursery circular. She acknowledges quoting him "rather freely" and if she can use his name and Falmouth for his address. Wheeler agrees but suggest she say as far north as northern Mass. and NH, or a reader might think she meant just to the Mass. border. Also asks why she didn't include Mass. varieties and say he is collecting trees he found last fall,. Her reply mentions Bartlett's tree found. Did not include Mass. varieties because they weren't ready. White says it will take four to five years to build up sufficient stock of Mass. varieties. That she is also glad that he is collecting more. Feb. 19-- gives measurements of Griscom holly.

Note

Wilfrid is misspelled as "Wilfred" on this typewritten copy of the original letter. This was brought to the archives' attention by Wheeler's great-granddaughter Emily Wheeler. Original letters were then found after the copy was accessioned.
