Letters Between Elizabeth White and Wilfrid Wheeler
Entry/Object ID
1984.3.16
Description
Elizabeth writes to say that she has received cuttings from Wheeler--planing to pot up 1000 plants in January and to get small plants for Christmas, 1942. She thinks plants are less likely to drop their berries if planted in January rather than May or June.
Wheeler writes to Elizabeth about a particular holly in Marion, MA which survived the hurricane ('38?). Will send cuttings.
Elizabeth writes to ask Wheeler about his method for planting holly. Also mentions suggestion for setting berries that she learned via the Boyce Thompson Institute.
Wheeler responds about his planting method and a description of a new holly location that is promising for varieties and cuttings.
