Description

Wheeler describes Bachelor's past visit to Sandy Hook where he found nothing worth propagating. Hopes he can see Judge Brown's place one day. Again talks about how bad hurricane damage was for trees. Applauds the idea of a Holly Society. He doesn't think any states have laws for protecting holly. Hopes someone will do work in fertilization of holly. He would like to have kodachrome slides for his lectures. Asks if she feels that birds eat holly in November. Had a small exhibit at Boston Flower Show. Quite a lot of interest and orders for 6'-7' trees. One order for 12'-15' trees--might have to go to Dilatush. Son Dick is in Alabama--will have a rough time since he doesn't like Army life.

Note

Wilfrid is misspelled as "Wilfred" on this typewritten copy of the original letter. This was brought to the archives' attention by Wheeler's great-granddaughter Emily Wheeler. Original letters were then found after the copy was accessioned.
