Elizabeth thanks for the "John Banks" holly. Has taken cuttings from a tree by Isaiah Haines house--about 1000 cuttings. Small cranberry crop, fair year of blueberries, and a good year for blueberry nursery sales. Mentions terrible train wrecks, unconditional surrender of Italy. Asks for cutting of good pollen trees. Elizabeth writes again to tell Wheeler how many of his hollies she has grown and thanks him for his cooperation. She thinks the best varieties as :
Manig", "Farage","Osa", "Delia", "Laura", "Mae", & "Susan". Whitesbog has had a drought.
Wilfred thinks "Emily" is his best holly but Aalto #3,6,7,.8,9 and Lawrence #1,2,3,4 also good. Talks about Howard holly from NC. Says there is a lot of interest in hollies. Mentions Mrs. Thache of Orange, NJ.Collection
