Description

Wheeler remarks on the cold winter and that it is still very cold in March. They have been away from the farm for a couple of months during which time he worked for a large green house doing propagating. Back at the farm, hollies in green house had not done well--heat too low. Complains of lack of labor, factories pay better, etc. Will send small holly orders he has to Eliz., has an inquiry for trees for hedge--suggests Clark but asks Elizabeth about Osa. Complains of army (Fort Edwards) over running/destroying the land. He is closer to Edwards than Elizabeth is to Dix. Complains about confusion in drafting levels for his sons. Hasn't been able to see how hollies have wintered in the woods.

Wilfrid is misspelled as "Wilfred" on this typewritten copy of the original letter. This was brought to the archives' attention by Wheeler's great-granddaughter Emily Wheeler. Original letters were then found after the copy was accessioned.
