Text directly below the portrait reads [John Collins del.] and [Sinclair Lith.]. Underneath the portrait is a copy of Whittier's signature. At the very bottom of the postcard, text reads [1829 – Whittier's earliest portrait, / aged 22, / after graduating from Haverhill Academy.].
