Vertical black and white postcard with a portrait of John Greenleaf Whittier at age 50. There is a decorative border around the portrait and a copy of Whittier's signature is framed underneath the portrait. Text at the very bottom of the postcard reads [1857 – The Quaker Poet, aged 50, as / he looked when elected by the General Court / to be a member of the Board of Overseers / of Harvard College.]. On the back of the postcard, there is a publisher's mark and a generic 3¢ stamp mark.
