PostcardDescription
Black and white illustrative postcard of the inside of the schoolhouse in Whittier's poem "Old School Days." Black text underneath the illustration reads [The Old School-house. / "Within, the master's desk is seen / Deep scarred by raps official; / The warping floor, the battered seats / The jack-knife's carved initial; / The charcoal frescoes on its wall; / Its door's worn sill, betraying / The feet that, creeping slow to school, / Went storming out to playing!" / Whittier.]. On the back is a publisher's mark and a generic stamp box. The postcard has not been used and there are no inscriptions besides the inventory number.Collection
