Description

The Surge Milker, Trademark Reg U.S.Pat.Off. Babon Bros. Co. No.S132132 with lid and teat connections. The Surge Bucket Milker was invented in 1922 by Herbert McCornack while working for the Babson Brothers Company of Chicago, Illinois. Its mechanized surging action greatly improved upon the efficiency of previous machine milkers. It was also easier to clean and sanitize. Sales began in 1923 and skyrocketed in the decades that followed. Research suggests it accounted for nearly 76% of milker sales in the United States by the 1950s. Sales of the Surge Bucket Milker declined between 1975 and 1999 when the product was discontinued.
