20% more knockdown power says you'll dine on turkey
Description
This is an advertisement from the December 1957 Field & Stream issue promoting Remington Express shotgun shells. DuPont is also named, given that they got a controlling interest in Remington during the Great Depression. The artwork depicts a pair of gobblers thundering off in flight through the Florida pines, with a surprised hunter in the background. Part of the ad states "Your gun is up ain a flash as the great bronze gobbler takes wing. Now it's your 12-gauge against nature's "Flying Fortress." While the wild turkey restoration was only just beginning at the time, fall hunting was common in states with turkeys at the time, just as pictured.
There is also an additional mention of a new launch as follows: "EXTRA! Announcing new 12-gauge Remington "Express 3" Heavy Magnum Shells with 1 7/8 ounces of shot." The three inch shotgun shell was an innovation that is a popular load for turkeys yet today.
