E.G. Chalkley's Turkey Call Pushpin CallEntry/Object ID
VTC001A0011Description
Turkey callmakers and hunters are forever seeking a better advantage to use in turkey hunting. A significant advance was made on March 27, 1923, by Virginian John E. Jackson (1876-1941) when he patented the first pushpin-style call. He was issued U.S. Patent #1,449,756 for a “sounding device." Edward G.Chalkley (1871-1939) acquired John E. Jackson's pushpin patent in 1928, and the Chalkley family would produce the calls for decades. The earlier calls have a Richmond, VA address and are smaller than later models made by his son, Milton Chalkley, who eventually moved the callmaking business to Suffolk, VA.Collection
