Description

M.L. Lynch is a turkey callmaking titan. His was the first significantly successful nationwide distribution of calls. He started his callmaking around 1940 from his home in Homewood, Alabama. His "Homewood calls" are cornerstones of any collection. While typical Homewood calls of sound provenance are of one-piece box body construction, there are at least two known Homewood “Gobble Boxes” that are sawn-and-glued. These would be predecessors of his World Champion box calls. His Homewood calls are also known for their decorative quality, with Lynch's name, "M.L. Lynch," always appearing, as well as some other wording or imagery. The Gobbling Boxes (or Gobble Boxes) have an image of a turkey hunter. Note that in the one pictured, "The Turkey Call Man" is carved into the box. Another telltale sign of a sawn-and-glued M.L. Lynch box is in the excess glue residue, for which this example has aplenty!
