Description

While better known for his classic books and witty short stories, literary giant Mark Twain has even contributed to our pantheon of vintage turkey hunting stories.  Twain published a short story entitled 'Hunting the Deceitful Turkey' in the December 1906 issue of Harper's Weekly, a premier journal of the day.  He describes pursuing a hen turkey with a lame leg on a fall hunt. He is ultimately outwitted, an experience all we turkey hunters know quite well.  In 1984, June Bernier republished this quaint story as a hardback micro-book... barely larger than a U.S. quarter.  It is a unique publication of a vintage story...limited to a signed (by Bernier) and numbered edition of 150, complete with illustrations.  I attach photos as well as a snippet of the story.  While Twain is noted best for his fiction, this is an interesting look at a boyhood experience we can appreciate.
