Description

John E. Jackson would file the first patent for a pushpin on September 28, 1921. Patent 1,449,756 for his "Sounding Device" would be issued on March 27, 1923. This Virginian was a black man whose wife, Susa, also made the calls, at attested to an example we have found stamped "S. Jackson." When Jackson ultimately passed, his death certificate remarkably recorded his profession as "Turkey Caller."
