As turkeys were being restored across the United States, new turkey hunters needed education about wild turkeys and their hunting. One popular form of education was through audio formats, with records being the first mode. Audiocassettes followed in the late 1960s (although at least one 8-Track was made of a turkey instructional by J.V. Waters). Until the mid-1990s, when Compact Discs (CDs) were popularized, many turkey hunters purchased audio cassettes to learn. This tryly was an all-star lineup, with Weakly being a Pennsylvania Game Commission wildlife biologist and very involved in wild turkey restoration during the mid-20th century, Sallenberger an early leader within the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) that was influential in bridging effofts between parties as related to wild turkey restoration, Bailey is often referred to as the "Godfather of wild turkey restoration," having contributed nationally to that effort, Frank Piper was the owner of Penn's Woods, and Taylor was West Virginia's Chief of the Wildlife Section of the Department of Natural Resources.
