Lee's Champion Gobble BoxEntry/Object ID
PTC004A0024Description
Similar to the original sawn-and-glued style of double sided box call that Gibson patented, Ben Lee would offer such a call that was stylistically like the Lynch World Champion. Lee's Champion Gobble Box, model 201, was offered. While one variant of this call had no wording on the grooved siderails, ones that did have wording generally had both sides designed to of,fer hen calls, despite the name of the box. The box came with eye screws like a Lynch World Champion as well, and with a rubber band connecting them, could produce a gobble. The wording on one side of the calls seems standard on all models is: "This Box For Superior Hen Calls." The other side of the call is most commonly worded "Use This Box For Yelps, Clucks & Cackles" but a few have been noted which are worded "Use This Box For Clucks, Cackles & Yelps." Most boxes have a countersunk finish washer and screw on the paddle, but some examples have just a screw. As with all models of turkey calls, there are minor differences to be found as well, such as angled versus straight paddle corners and the size and font of printing or stamping. In any case, Ben Lee calls are highly prized by those appreciating turkey call history, with signed and dated calls especially valued.Collection
