Penn's Woods Products, Inc. "True Tone" Box Call with custom paddleEntry/Object ID
PTC006A0002Description
Penn's Woods Products, Inc. operated out of Pennsylvania. It was unique in being an early production turkey call company north of the Mason-Dixon line. This was due to a population of wild turkeys surviving in the hills of the Keystone State, while they were extirpated in much of the remaining northern states. The "True Tone" Box Call featured a one-piece base and was made in the standard Turpin-box style. This call has a custom lid made of figured wood, rather than the typical walnut. These box calls had no finish applied and featured the gold stamping seen on the side of the box. Later models of this box (Model 6604) had a hole drilled in the paddle through which a leather strap could be secured, rendering the call silent during transport. An elastic strap was stapled to the bottom of the base of this call by a former owner to serve the same purpose.Collection
