Perfection Turkey Calls Box CallEntry/Object ID
PTC005A0020Description
Perfection Turkey Calls catered to turkey hunters with calls of all styles, including friction calls. Box calls have been around since the 1800s, with Henry Gibson eventually patenting one in 1897. While M.L. Lynch calls are better known and were widely used, Gibson is the first we can accurately verify as using sawn-and-glued construction. This was a much more time- and resource-efficient way to make a large number of calls, compared with hand-hewing a box call base. The Perfection box call is an example of a sawn-and-glued construction, and was signed by owners Jim Clay and Tom Duvall in 2002. Friction calls, including box calls, generally require conditioning and/or a friction agent for the two surfaces to produce a sound. Chalk replaced rosin (used in early box calls) as the friction agent of choice.Collection
