Description

Perfection Turkey Calls was co-founded by Virginians Jim Clay and Tom Duvall in the early 1970s. Clay was a high school English instructor and Duvall a high school Woodworking and Industrial Arts teacher. Their timing coincided with the restoration of the wild turkey, and Perfection would be one of the new "modern turkey call companies" riding that wave. Some calls were made in-house and others were outsourced. Diaphragm calls were made in-house, and the packaging evolved to be very attractive with bright colors. This Raspy D diaphragm also show how colors were used on the calls for branding and recognition. Perfection advertised red as a single reed (a single note and generally easier for beginners), blue was a double reed, and brown was a triple reed (in general, more reeds created a complexity of sound and rasp for advanced users), though other colors (such as yellow here) were also used.
